High-quality reconstruction of arrhythmic cardiac cycles

چکیده
Background The current clinical standard in cardiac functional MRI is retrospectively gated cine MRI. The technique is relying on a regular heart beat and cardiac cycles showing substantial deviation from the mean heart rate are excluded, often causing reduced image quality and completely suppressing arrhythmic cycles. We introduce a new correlation based self-gating approach enabling reconstruction of the entire cardiac motion including arrhythmic sections at high image quality.

Use of self-gated radial cardiovascular magnetic resonance to detect and classify arrhythmias (atrial fibrillation and premature ventricular contraction)
BACKGROUND Arrhythmia can significantly alter the image quality of cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR); automatic detection and sorting of the most frequent types of arrhythmias during the CMR acquisition could potentially improve image quality. New CMR techniques, such as non-Cartesian CMR, can allow self-gating: from cardiac motion-related signal changes, we can detect cardiac cycles with...
متن کاملAdvanced Motion Correction Methods in PET
With the arrival of increasingly higher resolution PET systems, small amounts of motion can cause significant blurring in the images, compared to the intrinsic resolutions of the scanners. In this work, we have reviewed advanced correction methods for the three cases of (i) unwanted patient motion, as well as motions due to (ii) cardiac and (iii) respiratory cycles. For the first type of ...
متن کاملECG-Gated Interventional Cardiac Reconstruction for Non-periodic Motion
The 3-D reconstruction of cardiac vasculature using C-arm CT is an active and challenging field of research. In interventional environments patients often do have arrhythmic heart signals or cannot hold breath during the complete data acquisition. This important group of patients cannot be reconstructed with current approaches that do strongly depend on a high degree of cardiac motion periodici...

This study briefly reviews the heart abnormalities in diverse intracranial pathologies, including strokes, spontaneous and traumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage and intracranial hemorrhage, and presents the results of a one-year prospective study of heart abnormalities in patients with moderate to severe head injuries and subarachnoid hemorrhage. Different abnormalities such as: QT -interval, T...

Purpose: Cardiac and respiratory motion artifacts are major challenges in cardiac MRI, and are conventionally suppressed by prospective ECG and diaphragm navigator gating, respectively. However, these approaches require time-consuming setup and prolonged acquisition times, and are susceptible to variations of heart rate or respiratory pattern. Further, they can become unreliable at higher field...
